Beyond Independence

Interdependence is the ability to remain individually capable and responsible, while choosing to rely on and support one another in ways that create greater possibilities than either could achieve alone.

Many dancers either protect their own balance or surrender it entirely. This intensive explores the space in between: developing the trust and awareness needed to create an interdependent partnership where both dancers remain active contributors to every movement.

  • Wednesday 30th December

    from 17:00-20:15.

  • £65 per person. Followers may be waitlisted until leaders sign-up.

  • Bookings open on 1st September

Workshop Levels

The event offers a variety of workshops:

  1. All level — anyone can attend.

  2. Levelled — open to those who are eligible to compete in Intermediate or Advanced+ WSDC divisions.

All level Workshops

These are designed to be inclusive and focus on core skills that benefit dancers of any level. The themes are a guidance and it will be up to the discretion of each teacher as to which element they teach.

  • Total Technique: This is about connection, partnering and improving fundamental technique using either basic patterns or a more complex pattern.

  • Concept: Explore a concept that encourages more creativity on the social dance floor.

  • Musicality: This is about critical timing, matching your dance to different genres, partnering skills, or structuring your dance to the music.

  • Solo Movement: This is about improving body awareness, balance, styling and footwork.

  • Seminar: Grab a seat and soak up the knowledge from your inspiring instructors!

  • Competition and Peer Practice Sessions for each level: Novice, Intermediate and Advanced/All Star.

Levelled Workshops

  • Intermediate-level: Open to those who are eligible to compete in Intermediate WSDC division.

  • Advanced-level: Open to those who are eligible to compete in Advance WSDC division.

    Please note that we are not running auditions this year.

COMPETITIONS

Competitions have always been part of NYSF’s DNA. From our early days running a spotlight for every Jack & Jill division to the fun All European Jack & Jill.

    • Sophisticated

    • Masters
